The Centurion XIV Stations of the Cross

Both dramatic and devout, The Centurion XIV features the Centurion who pierced the side of Jesus on the cross. Non-canonical sources have asserted his name—Longinus—and stories about him that tell of his conversion, being evangelized by the Apostles, spreading the Good News himself, and eventually dying a martyr’s death.  The Centurion XIV imagines Longinus in a Roman prison with other followers of Christ.  All are soon to die, and Longinus is asked to recall his memories and thoughts of The Way of the Cross to help pass their final hour. Performer Karl Rohling portrays Longinus as a person of both strong faith and deep regrets whose witness inspires his listeners to enter the Passion, grow in faith and to contemplate their own regrets–and the unfailing mercy of Christ.
